An English mahogany desk with original tooled leather, writing slope on sliding rails, secret compartment and two brushing slides (400mm each). Lower drawers are concealed behind panelled door. Early bracket foot pattern. Very rare. Illustrated in "Furniture of the NZ Colonial Ers 1830-1900" page 121, belonged to the author William Cottrell.
