Kuba Cloth Cushion

Our wonderful cushion lady who keeps threatening to die on us, has risen like Lazarus to produce yet another stunning cushion.

Look at how the trim complements the various pieces of Congolese textile.

The Kuba people of present-day DRC make these textiles, comprised of square sections of woven raffia palm as a base cloth, decorated with complex embroidery. The pile of this embroidery is cut to produce a velvet-like effect. Considered to be one of the most significant forms of textile art in the world.

Wonderful colours and texture - finished off with a beautiful velvet on the reverse.
