Montparnasse Frame

You never stop learning in this trade. The young Julian is in France and buying for us - he has been sourcing Impressionist and Post-Impressionist canvases for us - but he has also introduced us to these exceptional period frames. 

The frames were made in Montparnasse in the 1920s - at the time Montparnasse was full of poets and painters. This frame is not gilded like earlier frames, but finished in soft colours, complementing the work of Cubist and early Modernist painters of the period.
