Bleached Louis Philippe Commode
A classic Louis Philippe walnut commode, bought in northern France, on the border of Brittany and Normandy. Bleaching is a delicate business, but it reveals the burr walnut's excellent grain. The original fossil stone top sits above the commode's shaped top drawer, which sits above the three long drawers. The chest is raised on quintessential Louis Philippe feet. With excess ornamentation stripped away, this piece is all about plain lines and gorgeous materials. Brass handles can be added to the commode's drawers if constant 21st-century use demands it, and they would not detract from the look.
