We generally buy these French period pieces as commodes, so it is a treat to find a fine Louis XVI piece as a sideboard with two drawers and cupboards below. Each drawer is fielded with a quarter-round brass moulding, and the only nod to decoration is the Louis XVI ribbon key escutcheons.
The base is topped with the original white Carrara marble shaped at the edges to highlight the outer fluted columns of the cupboards; the entire piece is raised on turned and fluted Louis XVI feet.
