E. Bouche Montparnasse Frame

NZ$4,500

We have been buying picture frames from France for a couple of years now, and the most desirable are from the first quarter of the 20th-century, and made in Montparnasse, a neighbourhood of Paris.

At that time, Montparnasse was filled with artists and intellectuals: Picasso, Satie, Chagall, Hemingway, Joyce, Duchamp, Rivera, and the list goes on.

The very best were made by Monsieur Bouche, and those frames are generally small.

This was for a logical reason: E. Bouche's most famous customer, Picasso, loved the frames for his own works.
