French Engraved Mirror
NZ$4,750
In order - slag metal is the cheapest sort of gilding, followed by oil gilding. Water gilding is next, but the trickiest is called engraved or incised water gilding - of which this arched-top mirror is a stunning example.
Contained within the frame is the original mercury plate glass (in a great size) dating from the Louis Philippe period.
