E. Bouche Carved Wooden Frame
NZ$2,500
These beautiful frames are named for Montparnasse - the Parisienne suburb known for its edgy cultural past and was the home of numerous bars and eateries that hosted some of the greatest artists, writers and intellects of the age - Gertrude Stein, Paul Cezanne, Paul Gauguin, Max Ernst, Pablo Picasso etc
This particular frame is very special, it was made by the renowned picture framer Atelier Emile Bouche, a prominent frame maker during this famous era in Montparnasse, and whose frames adorn many of Picasso's works, along with many of his contemporaries.
Finished off with the E. Bouche stamp of authenticity on the reverse, the carved patterns, colour, patina and style are just superb!
