Hazara Kilim Rug

This carpet hails from the north of Afghanistan. Made by the Hazara tribe, who settled the region in the 16th century.
Made from 100% sheep wool and dyed with vegetable dyes, it is an extremely hardwearing flat weave in a contemporary stripe.
Kilim is a term of Persian origin and means “spread out”, it is used for all the pileless flat textile carpets obtained by weaving together the warp and weft threads.
The oldest kilim dates back to the 4th century BC.
