Montparnasse Frame
In the early part of the 20th century, Montparnasse overtook Montmartre as the centre of Parisian artistic life. To frame their more expressive and colourful works, the artists of the time created these stunning frames, carved from wood and painted in earthy tones rather than gilded as they had been in the 19th century.
This is a stunning original example, its green-blue finish painted with a hint of gold leaf.
