Wainscot Chair

I'm not certain I have ever owned a Wainscot chair before. These chairs, made of old English oak and decorated with primitive carving, date from the 17th century.

 You used to see them in proper antiques shops (BADA members) in London, Bath, Harrogate.....

This original piece with its shaped arms, panelled back, primitive carving and period turnings on the stretcher-based legs is simply a standout.
