An 18th Century French Cherrywood Armoire

You can go from village to village in France and literally look at 100's of armoires. Once upon a time a customer of ours decided to go and find their own armoire, but they gave up and came back and bought the one in the shop.

Finding an armoire with perfectly divided fielded panels in the doors is a nigh-on impossible mission.

The flat-topped cornice makes a large armoire not too tall; some of them were built to sit in rooms with a towering stud height. 

There's a beautifully-shaped and decorated frieze sitting below the doors, supported on the armoire's strong Louis XlV feet.
