French Directoire Dresser Base
My French is atrocious (so is my English). Luckily there are those about who can spell better than me.
In France they talk about a row of soldiers being an enfilade. Anyway, this is definitely a row of four drawers over a row of cupboards. Each of the drawers and cupboards is fielded with a brass moulding.
The middle two drawers and cupboards break forward, breaking the row of soldiers, like two volunteers stepping out, giving the dresser a wonderful depth of field.
The dresser has eight legs with brass caps, and a very heavy carrara marble.
