Ebonised Semainier
Very unassuming, this semainier (French chest of drawers) dates from 1820s France.
French scholars will know that a semainier has one drawer for each day of the week.
You are supposed to keep your special lingerie in this, but I expect the girls will edit this fact out. Anyway, a satin black finish and heavy cast gun metal ring handles on each of the seven drawers, with their fielded panels, make this a very attractive piece, whatever you keep in it.
