English Bureau
Antique Business 101
Rule 1: Don’t purchase a bureau, you can’t give them away since the advent of the laptop - nobody wants them!
Rule 2: If you do buy a bureau, buy an oak one because you can occasionally get an oak piece of furniture away.
Rule 3: Don’t purchase anything with a red tinge made in England in the last 500 years - unsaleable.
So, today, we have a reddish English, 240 year old bureau!
I couldn’t resist it - it’s probably the best red walnut bureau I’ve ever owned. It’s the sort of thing you see in Mallets for daft money.
Pierced brass handles and escutcheons, stunning fitted interior, completely original and unrestored.
