French Empire Console or Petticoat Table
Gerald the kiwi looks very at home in the daylight and on this French Empire console. These strong tables were built in the 1820s. Sometimes they had mirrors fitted to the underside so you can check your petticoat was straight as you walked out the door.
More frocks and frilly underwear, that's the answer.
The console has a lovely marble top.
