Georgian Oak Side Table
When we started in business in 1988 we couldn't sell a stick of furniture because of the '87 crash. We nearly closed down on Christmas Eve 1988, when a lovely lady called Elena came in and bought an expensive bureau. The rent got paid and we plunged on into 1989.
The same lovely lady reappeared the other day and bought the little boat sitting on this table. Anyway, she hasn't picked it up yet, so I will use it as a prop, because it makes me smile - like this table that Greenie, our man in Yorkshire (who has kept in business for 30 years) has found for us.
The table is small with pleasing proportions and made of quarter sawn oak, exhibiting the medullary ray formation seen in good Georgian oak pieces. It has original English brass pierced handles and those legs that taper without looking spindly, also two very handy drawers that run beautifully.
A good Georgian Period piece.
