French Oak Dresser Base or Enfilade
This is a very nice original Louis XIV dresser base from northern France. These long dresser bases with lots of doors are referred to as Enfilades, which I think means a row of soldiers - I'm certain someone more articulate will sort me out if I am wrong - Anyway very nice French, radially cut oak exhibiting medullary ray formation. Each door has a French fielded panel in the Louis XIV manner, with each alternate door having the original steel and shaped key escutcheon. The dresser has four carved drawers, in the French provincial manner, excellent pegged mortice and tenon joints and good feet! The feet are excellent, almost in the earlier straight Louis XIV manner you see on really good commodes, like 100-61.
