Louis XIV Walnut Commode
24th March 2016

We have just landed our 100th container from France - quite a momentous occasion, cause for celebration really!

We imported just one container in our first year of trading, 1988, and we have 4 in (or on) the water already this year.

Perhaps we should stop and thank the team who has enabled us to get to this milestone; Oceanbridge Freight and their agents in France and Italy, our friend Grant Hudson at Aironaught Customs for getting me out of all sorts of difficulties and in New Zealand our fantastic team of restorers - some have worked for us for over 20 years!

So, in this container we have; some very good pedestal desks, an excellent military chest, bookcases and a spectacular Jacobean chest from England, from France we have a stunning set of Louis XV chairs, some glorious mirrors and a couple of Swedish, Gustavian commodes, some very nice bureau plat (or French, fault topped desks), some wonderful painted display cases and a painted, narrow cafe cupboard, a very nice cherry wood Enfilade (or long dresser base), and the wonderful Louis XIV commode pictured to the left, quite something.
