Exceptional Gustavian Transitional Commode
22nd January 2016

Happy New Year!

I hope your Christmas/summer break was a good one and that you are rested, restored and ready for 2016.

Following a very busy run-up to Christmas, which saw stock levels plummet, we closed the shop’s doors on Christmas Eve and prepared for our road trip to Stewart Island.

In our absence the Emporium got restocked with some lovely mirrors, painted dresser bases and a one-door armoire. The upholsterers have finished some wonderfully comfortable French daybeds and upholstered armchairs, and from the polisher an ebonised late Georgian cupboard and bookcase (#9951).

Our 100th container is on the water and due in New Zealand shortly. It is loaded with dining tables and the beautiful chairs from our Parisian chair maker.

The first of our cushions have arrived in some very special fabrics Kat has chosen, she is very good with colour and fabric, with more coming very soon including a range in fantastic outdoor fabrics and fillings.

I leave for the UK and France next week. The thought of those dawn starts, in the depths of winter, to make buying calls is less than appealing, but if we get finished in time then maybe there will be some snow on the mountains……

Kat, our one-woman-sales force, will be in the charge while I am away. She’s smart, knows the stock and is very efficient about getting back to customers. Just keep pressing the ALL stock button to see the new stock. The website is updated daily.

We look forward to bringing you more top quality pieces from France, England and Sweden in 2016.

PS If you haven’t been to Stewart Island, then go. There’s even a first rate restaurant called Church Hill Restaurant and Oyster Bar – absolutely marvellous!
