Classical Furniture Goes Marching On

2nd March 2011

March has been a very busy month. The phone has been ringing, the car tyres are crunching on the gravel outside and we remain grateful to all our loyal customers for their business. Requests for insurance valuations from Christchurch are a timely reminder to be extra grateful. Restoration on the last shipment's pieces continues with some wonderful pieces returning from the talented team of restorers. A magnificent French Louis XIV Rosewood Day Bed arrived recently and promptly sold twice in one day.

I had to do a bit of back tracking as one sale was via e-mail and the other in the shop (#8073). Happily, we have sourced two more of these period frames in Normandy. They are due in the June shipment. I don't buy much 20th Century industrial/steel furniture, but could not resist the wonderful Post Office Sorter, which is presently in the window of the shop. (#7847). We have a number of attractive Louis XIV Armchairs in stock, both singles and pairs (# 8100). Weatherby George's Doug has returned from the Auckland Islands where he helped DOC rebuild the rescue cottages. It was an historic voyage for the team and Herculean building effort. Orders for Bookcases and Wine Cellars are keeping Doug busy back here in Auckland. Again, thank you for your continued support. This year we have been in business for 23 years.
