French Pencil Drawings in Mirrored Frames

We purchased these Louis Phillipe mirrors in Chartres.

I bought them because of the outstanding quality of the frames but apparently the coloured etchings are quite famous, according to PT, a docent at Auckland Art Gallery.

One wonders why the bloke is looking down the cleavage of the nice lady on the nice couch, but that must be how the French did it in the 19th century.
