Swedish Gustavian Sofa or Daybed

This sofa is another example of the influence the courts of Louis XV and XVl had on the young Gustav, before he became king of Sweden.

The sofa clearly has Louis XV inspired arms and frame, but the influence of the Louis XVl and Directoire Periods on the legs is evident. The frame's black finish is different from a French finish, the French tended to use gold or walnut.

I purchased this daybed on my last trip to Sweden, but it has taken us some time to choose this Portuguese linen upholstery to complement the piece. Your loose cushions will add your signature to the piece.
